37 Has the ways people dress for certain occasions changed?
The answer to this question is a definite and resounding ’yes’!
Actually, I’ve just read an article about it which said that today the notion
of ’suitable clothing’ is dying out. It would now appear that, to
all intents and purposes, anything goes. Some decades ago you could just find
out at a glance whether someone was dressed for work or was en
route to a nightclub. And, needless to say, the same clothes were
never worn to both. However, the article claims that in the last 30 years we
have undergone a marked change in the ideas of what a dress code
means. In the 1960s male air travellers were expected to wear a suit;
these days it would come as no surprise to find them in shorts and
trainers. That being said, there are still occasions (such as a funeral)
where only certain clothes will do.
