42 Would you ever be a vegetarian?

To start with, you might argue that it is our moral duty to inflict as little pain as possible for our survival. If we kill animals to have a ’tasty meal’, we are breaking that moral code. Some even believed that animal suffering was just as serious as human suffering and likened the idea of human superiority to racism. Moreover, becoming a vegetarian is an environmentally friendly thing to do. Modern farming is one of the main sources of pollution in our rivers. If we refuse to eat meat, there’ll be no more need for factory farms. Others claim that the key to good health is a balanced diet, not a meat- and fish-free diet. Meat and fish are good sources of protein, iron, and other vitamins and minerals. We could hardly live a balanced life without them. Also, a vegetarian diet (just like eating organic food) is a more expensive option - a luxury for the middle classes. Fresh fruit and vegetables are extremely expensive compared to processed meats, bacon, burgers, sausages. All in all, being a vegetarian would have some serious advantages, however, it might be beyond the means of a lot of people.
